Joseph Benanti CMPT 103L                   Fired Over Facebook Assignment 1.   What is your initial reaction to this story? I was honestly surprised. I was surprised because I believe there should be a bridge between someone’s reality and their social media profiles. In other words, one should not have to face the consequences for their posts on social media if it does not pose a threat to society.   2.   What reason did the employer provide for firing this person? The employer said they fired him because “it is essential that we not become involved in public controversy either in support or opposition of an issue”. In other words, they did not like the fact that he had expressed his views online on the shooting in Tucson. 3.   Was the firing legal?   Why?
